Sunday Family Funday

Wig Jo
So tomorrow I am starting the South Beach Diet, that means that this weekend I tried to eat all my favorite foods that I wouldn't be able to eat any more. Pepsi, chips, corn dogs, pot pies...what else...oh and alcohol. My mom and I went to a my baby cousin's 1st birthday party at my Uncle Tim's house. There was lot's of German food, brats and sauerkraut, I had a cheddar-wurst and it was really good. I made Cameron go with me to Trader Joe's to stock up on some SBD safe foods. I got some salmon fillets, a couple pork chops, fat free Greek yogurt, a couple cans of black beans, some cheese, couple bags of frozen spinach, and some frozen edamame. I'm really excited about starting this new eating lifestyle, that is what I am calling it, an eating lifestyle. I hate the word diet. I have never been on a diet and I don;'t even want to be. I just want to eat right. I made some of the vegetable quiche cups which turned out pretty good. I put them in the freezer so that I can heat them up for breakfast whenever I need something quick. I starting making tzatziki dip and made a yogurt marinade for my chicken breasts for dinner tomorrow. I plan on having two quiches for breakfast in the morning, some black bean soup for lunch, and the chicken for dinner with a salad. Mixed in there will be a couple of snacks. I'm thinking of some cucumber chips with laughing cow cheese and a turkey roll-up.

So I woke up on the bright this morning and went for a hike with Amanda. It was so nice and cool at 8:30 when we started down the path to the waterfall in Wildwood canyon, but somewhere after we left the waterfall we took a wrong turn. We ended up on the "experienced hikers" trail that went the super long way around what we Californians call a hill, but to anyone one east of the rockies it was a mountain. We kept saying things like, " maybe there is a cut-thru trail, it can't go all the way around this hill" and then it did. Also "well it says lizard rock trail, but it can't go all the way up to the rock" and then it did. The hardest part of the hike though was not knowing how much further we had to go. But we did it slowly and surely. We stopped to take in the view, one of which showed us Newbury Park to the left and Santa Rosa Valley to our right. The breeze up there was incredible and it never go too hot. I felt very accomplished when we finished, it turned out to be about a 3 mile hike and we effing finished it. We decided that we had to do i again now that we knew what to expect, though next time we will bring the boys along so they can understand our pain!

Ok I'm wiped out. Long day and it is time for bed. Sleep tight and sweet dreams.

So I woke up at 7 this morning and went to the gym with Amanda. It was good. I needed to do it, and I'm glad that I did. It was hard and I was only able to do 30 mins, but I worked through and got my sweat on. We are going to go for a 3 mile hike tomorrow morning while our boys go golfing so that should be awesome. I plan on starting the south beach diet on Monday and go back to the gym.

Entry number one

I have decided to get healthy. I'm sick of being chubby. That is a real polite way of saying I am too fat. What happened to me? I didn't use to be like this. I know that age has had it's affect on my metabolism and that my activity level has fallen to none. I eat like shit too.

So this is were I am drawing the line. I am starting a new eating plan and exercise regiment. I am starting the South Beach Plan. It lets you eat good carbs and good fats and seems easy to follow so I hope that it will work. I am also going to start going to the gym and walk more.

I plan on using this journal to keep track of what I do everyday in both my eating and exercise plan. So...here it  goes.
